Comparison of physical and chemical characteristics of collagen from the skin of cod (Gadus macrocephaius)

Acid and pepsin-soluble collagen (ASC and PSC, respectively) were extracted from cod (Gadus macrocephaius) skin, and yields of 37.36 and 55.96% were obtained for ASC and PSC, respectively. The total yield of ASC and PSC was 93.92%, based on the lyophilized dry weight, which is higher than that obtained from other sources. Electrophoresis revealed that both ASC and P.. Read More»

Construction and characterization of a bacterial artificial chromosome library for the allotetraploid Gossypium tomentosum

    F. Liu, Y.H. Wang, H.Y. Gao, C.Y. Wang, Z.L. Zhou, X.Y. Cai, X.X. Wang, Z.S. Zhang and K.B. Wang

Gossypium tomentosum is a wild allotetraploid species with the (AD)5 genome. It is characterized by many useful traits including finer fiber fineness, drought tolerance, and Fusarium and Verticillium resistance. We constructed the first bacterial artificial chromosome library for Gossypium tomentosum. With high quality and broad coverage, this library includes 200,832 clones, with an average in.. Read More»

Collinearity analysis of allotetraploid Gossypium tomentosum and Gossypium darwinii

    F. Liu, Z.L. Zhou, C.Y. Wang, Y.H. Wang, X.Y. Cai, X.X. Wang, K.B. Wang and Z.S. Zhang

Gossypium tomentosum and G. darwinii are wild allotetraploid cotton species, characterized by many excellent traits, including fiber fineness, drought tolerance, and Fusarium and Verticillium wilt resistance. Based on the construction of F2 linkage groups of G. hirsutum x G. tomentosum and G. hirsutum x G. darwinii, two genetic linkage maps were compared. As a result, we found a total of seven .. Efficacy of dendritic cell-cytokine-induced killer immunotherapy plus intensity-modulated radiation therapy in treating elderly patients with esophageal carcinoma

    L. Yan, M. Wu, N. Ba, L.J. Wang, H.Q. Zhang, G.Y. Shi, Z.S. Zhang and X.J. Wang

We investigated the clinical efficacy of adoptive cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell and dendritic cell (DC) therapy plus intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for treating elderly patients with esophageal carcinoma (EC). In total, 68 elderly patients with EC were randomized to receive IMRT plus DC-CIK immunotherapy (study group, N = 34) or IMRT only (control group, N = 34). Clinical eff.. Read More»

Genetic diversity and relationship analysis of Gossypium arboreum accessions

    F. Liu1,2, Z.L. Zhou2, C.Y. Wang2, Y.H Wang2, X.Y. Cai2, X.X. Wang2,Z.S. Zhang1 and K.B. Wang2

Simple sequence repeat techniques were used to identify the genetic diversity of 101 Gossypium arboreum accessions collected from India, Vietnam, and the southwest of China (Guizhou, Guangxi, and Yunnan provinces). Twenty-six pairs of SSR primers produced a total of 103 polymorphic loci with an average of 3.96 polymorphic loci per primer. The average of the effective number of alleles, Nei&rsqu.. Read More»
